General Principles

The Alt key can be used for navigating and performing actions by combining it with underlined letters in Windows applications.  In a menu bar, toolbar or dialog box, a single letter may be underlined on buttons and labels--by pressing Alt plus that letter, the button or that form field with that associated underlined letter will be selected.

E.g.: In most Windows applications, there is a “File” menu, and the “F” is underlined.  Pressing Alt+F will open the File menu, and then pressing “S” (the underlined letter on the “Save” button”) will save the file.
